LINER NOTES:

The music by this trio is a collaboration between Bill Gilliam (piano), Eugene Martynec (electroacoustics), and Bill McBirnie (flute) who are performers and composers with various backgrounds in improvised music, electroacoustic sound creation and jazz.

Despite their diverse musical experience, they share a strong commitment to free improvisation, as well as a mutual fascination with the mystery of creating entirely spontaneous music.

Regardless of the age, background or idiomatic orientation of their audiences, their work always elicits a certain enchantment from the listener because of their entirely unscripted, but empathetic, approach to playing with each other as one.

TRACK DETAILS:

Tracks 1 - 3 (recorded in 2020) were performed by the trio. This is a Japanese Suite that was inspired by shakuhachi flute music.

Track 4 - (recorded in 2020) is a transitional piece also performed by the trio.

Tracks 5 - 7 (recorded in 2018) are flute and piano duets that were performed and recorded in Bill Gilliam's living room documenting their very first musical encounter.
